Restaurant, Café & Hotel Websites: Must-Have Pages and Features
Menus, rooms, galleries, directions and direct enquiries — what hospitality businesses need on their website.
Aggregators like Zomato, Swiggy, MakeMyTrip and Booking.com bring visibility — but they also take commission and own the customer relationship. Your own website is where repeat guests and direct bookings come from.
For restaurants and cafés
Essential pages
- Home — cuisine, vibe, location, timings, "Call / Reserve / Directions" buttons
- Menu — as a real web page (text), not only a PDF or photo. It loads faster, reads better on phones and can be found by Google.
- Gallery — dishes, interiors, events, ambience at night
- Reservations / Enquiries — a simple form or WhatsApp booking
- Private events & catering — birthdays, corporate lunches, parties (often high-value enquiries)
- Contact & location — map, parking info, landmarks
Features that help
- Tap-to-call and WhatsApp buttons always visible on mobile
- Links to your ordering pages on delivery apps (and direct ordering, if you offer it)
- Veg/non-veg, Jain and allergy information on the menu
- Highlight dishes customers love — with good photos
- Festival and weekend specials section that you update regularly
For hotels, resorts and homestays
Essential pages
- Home — location, what makes your property special, "Check availability / Enquire" button
- Rooms — one section per room type: photos, size, bed type, occupancy, amenities, view
- Amenities — restaurant, pool, parking, Wi-Fi, room service, activities
- Gallery — rooms, property, surroundings, food
- Things to do nearby — attractions, distances, travel tips (great for Google searches too)
- Weddings / events / groups — if you host them
- How to reach — from the nearest airport, railway station and bus stand
- Policies — check-in/out times, cancellation, ID requirements, pets, children
Features that help
- Direct enquiry or booking form with dates and number of guests
- WhatsApp enquiry button — many guests prefer to ask questions first
- Guest reviews, and links to your Google and travel-site reviews
- A reason to book direct (e.g. early check-in on request, welcome drink) — only if you can honour it
Photos make or break hospitality websites
Guests decide mostly on photos. Invest in a proper shoot: natural light, clean rooms, real food styled simply. Avoid stretched, blurry or heavily filtered images — and compress them so the site still loads fast.
Getting found on Google and Maps
- Complete your Google Business Profile with menu, photos, hours and attributes.
- Use the most specific category ("Punjabi restaurant", "Resort hotel", "Café").
- Write pages people search for: "cafés near [landmark]", "family hotel in [town]", "things to do in [town]".
- Reply to every review — travellers read replies as closely as reviews.
Common mistakes
- Menu only as a blurry photo or huge PDF
- No prices or room details, forcing everyone to call
- Out-of-date timings, menu or offers
- Slow galleries with full-size camera photos
- No easy way to enquire directly
